South Narrabeen Nippers starts back as normal on this Sunday 8th January!
New Year Message from the Nippers President
Happy new year everyone, and welcome back to our season. We had a fantastic beginning of season last year for a few highlights which people may not be aware of:
- Carnival events we had a fantastic turn up for the first two Carnivals of the season. Our next Carnival is the second week of Nippers, those interested must make indications this Sunday in order to be registered.
- Halloween and Christmas functions we had a phenomenal turn out to both of these events, most people can not remember the last time we had over 100 attendees to both events!!! Our last event of the year is the Awards ceremony at the end of the year, and every Nipper receives an award along with our Nipper of the year presentation, this is funded from the profits of the previous two functions so there is no charge for this event.
- Fund-raising - a big thanks to all our helpers, with our events and with the forthcoming Australia day, this will purchase one of our 3 new 'glass' surfboards, for our growing kids to augment the soft boards we have built up over the recent years!
- NYE fireworks, we had a fantastic turn out and fun with the ability to see both the Warringah and Pittwater fireworks from the beach! The party carried on to early New Years Day, and our young nippers had lots of fun. This was the inaugural event, so with the attendance we are now going to add this to our annual Calendar.
I must commend all the Nippers and their parents, the positive feedback we have received has been noticed and felt by the entire committee, the enjoyment the kids are experiencing on the sand and in the water has been terrific.
Our last fund-raising event is the Australia Day celebrations at Narrabeen lake park (where the markets are held), we will need about 3 shifts to co-ordinate with the Thong throwing event our IRBC & IRBD will be fully occupied running kids in the IRB through the lake. The profit from this event comes from Warringah Council straight back to our surt club, so it is one of the few times per year we have an opportunity to receive this. I would ask that people contact me via e-mail or see Sue or I during the first weeks of the season.
Regards,
Guy
Narrabeen Nippers Carnival
The first Nippers Carnival for 2012 is a Narrabeen Surf Club next Sunday 15th January. This is a great carnival to attend as it is close by and is generally much smaller and less intimidating then the bigger carnivals at Manly. See Richard this Sunday to register or contact him here. Nippers will be run as normal for U6-U7 at South Narra.
Board Training
Board Training will be resuming this Sunday (8th Jan) at 8:30am. We'll meet at the clubhouse to check out the conditions. If the swell is too big, we'll ask you to grab a board and we'll regroup at the lagoon.
BBQ Roster
The BBQ roster continues in 2012 to keep all our hungry nippers well fed. The MURRAY family will be helping out this week. Click here to review the BBQ roster for the remainder of the season.
